Mission and purpose

It is our mission and purpose to bring joy, happiness, smiles and magic to some of the most deserving children in the UK today.  The children to whom we deliver our dreams live in poverty and have a serious illness, disability or life-limiting condition. 

We are the only wish granting charity to solely support children living in social deprivation – and it is a privilege to do so. 

Dreams Come True was founded in 1988 and we are proud to have been running for over thirty years. Thanks to our UK-wide dream making programme of individual and community dreams we improve and change the lives of very deserving children.

The need for our dreams

In today’s world, where more and more children fall into poverty every year, our charity has never been needed more.  The statistics speak for themselves.  Four years ago 4.2million children lived in poverty. Today (2025) that figure has risen by 25% to a staggering 5.2million children. 

On average 1 in every 3 children live in poverty in our country; and in some places this rises to 1 in every 2.  It’s hard to believe but it’s true.  And these figures become yet worse when you learn that children with a disability are 11% more likely to fall into poverty than non-disabled children. 

These statistics are shocking and hard to believe. 

To us they are more than just statistics – they are a call to action.

Still so much to do

We are a small charity with a big heart and a unique purpose. We are proud of all we have achieved.  But we know there are so many more children who need our dreams – more today than ever – and we shall not rest until we find our children and met their needs.
